20+ Names of Exotic Cocktail Drinks with Recipes

What is an Exotic Drink?

Exotic Cocktails are mixed drinks that have become popular since the first quarter of the 20th century and all the bars offer a list of selected exotic cocktails. However, people have been drinking mixed drinks since alcoholic drinks came into existence.

It is claimed that the first recipe for a cocktail was lemon juice and powdered mixers, appreciated by Emperor Commodus in the second century AD.

One of many popular notions on the birth of the word Cocktail is that during the American War of Independence, in 1779, an innkeeper, Betsy Flanagan of Virginia prepared a meal of chicken she stole from a neighbor who was pro-British.

She then served the French soldiers the mixed drinks decorated with the feathers from the birds. Her merry French guests toasted her with the words Vive le Cocktail. Since then the word “Cocktail” was used to mean Mixed drinks.

Harry’s New York Bar in Paris and The American Bar at The Savoy in London gained a reputation for their Cocktails. All mixed drinks, in general, are called Cocktails.

However, in bar operations, a cocktail refers to a mixed drink having one or more alcoholic drinks in its making. The size of an Exotic cocktail should be between 3 1/2 and 4 OZ and anything more than this size is known as a long drink or Mixed drink.

The Cocktail drink has the following features:

  • Mixed drinks have one or more alcoholic drinks.
  • The size is between 3 1/2 and 4 OZ.
